I’ve always been obsessed with telling stories. As a kid, that obsession got me labeled as talkative; but as I grew up with my nose in a book, I used my voice less and less. Instead, I learned to choose the perfect words and arrange them in a foolproof order to express myself.

Writing remains my favorite way to communicate in both my personal and professional lives. I was determined to become a print reporter when I went to college. My local public radio station had other ideas. In a reversal of my early teenage years, I relearned the value of sound in storytelling.

Over the years, I’ve dabbled in videography, data visualization and photography. I’ve helped produce documentaries, designed magazines and charted maps. Now, I’m not so picky about the medium. All I want — all I’ve ever wanted, really — is to tell a good story.
